about

I’m puzzled by people -- pals from the past, work allies and others -- who’ll email with urgent “let’s talk” missives, and then stop communicating the minute I call their phone or slip them my number. This odd trend has now evolved into contact from texters seemingly unable to speak by phone. The result is often a long text-only exchange, over hours or days, about things that could’ve been hashed out in fun, human fashion with a quick call. Yes, this thinking makes me a caveman. And it gave me the goods for this song. – MJ

lyrics

You keep on texting me
When all I wanna do is speak with you
You’ve got me in the dark
C-A-L-L?
Come on use your effin’ phone
To talk to me

U R numeral 2 BZY
I stare at my phone wondering just why
You can erase all my doubts with a little mouth to mouth
Come on use your effin’ phone and talk to me

We all know the dying art of conversation’s lost its heart
In a world without the time or tact
To conversate or call you back and use some smart technology to actually
Smartly communicate

OMG, WTF
Spare your fingertips, use your precious lips
Here’s one last text for you:
This is SO FUed
You won’t use that effin’ phone
And talk to me

Come on your effin’ phone
To T-A-L-K T-O M-E
I-M O-U-T
