about

To some folks, blues numbers and cry-in-your-beer songs are sad and depressing. To me and others they’re healing musical therapy. They are also a favorite specialty of mine. This late-night, hard-reality ode seemed perfect for another fave thing of mine: an acoustic guitar run through a Fender Princeton with the tremolo and reverb knobs turned loose. Here’s to being lonely and looking it in the eye. If you’ve never lived in old house with a mail slot in the door, the line about letters will be lost on you. -- MJ

lyrics

The world’s out painting the town
Buying each other a round
Here in the dark of my room
I sit alone with the truth

I’m nobody’s friend, hating the night again
All my good times have been ‘cause I’m nobody’s friend

No steps stop at my door
No letters fall to my floor
I stare out the window each night
No one catches my eye

‘Cause I am nobody’s friend cursing the night again
All my good times have been because I’m nobody’s friend

Not long ago I had laughs and buddies to spare
Not long ago somebody cared

Go find the man in the moon
Lost souls in forgotten rooms
Search as hard as you can
I’ll be the loneliest man

‘Cause I am nobody’s friend hating the world again
All my good times have been ‘cause I am nobody’s friend
