She Put the Bourbon in Suburban

from Brewed Gold by Marty Jones

/

about

This man cannot live by writing beer songs alone. Actually, I could. But bourbon is a wonderful thing, too. And a cheery rocker (from the husband perspective) about the pitfalls of drinking on the outskirts of town seems like a classic -- if unsung -- theme to me. And while American roots music has its share of cautionary drinking tales, there are too few that feature women. And the title (thanks Eric Baker) was too good to pass up.
