Yes, the title means Up With People and the upstarts on The Voice won’t be covering this one. But it’s my idea of a realist’s it-will-all-work-out anthem. I did wrestle with the descriptor in the chorus. But the figurative cream of life doesn’t always collect at the crown of the bottle. But it usually does if you put in the work. And an artiste is supposed to be honest, right? This song was triggered by hearing the Goo Goo Dolls on mainstream radio and thinking to myself, “This should be The Replacements on this station.
